Essentials: Dry Skin

These are some of my favourite products for keeping dry skin comfortable and supple, especially dry winter skin. You will find a more extensive list of alternative nourishing options here, but this is a great place to start and should help a lot! To further nourish dry skin here is a link to a homemade electrolyte drink that will help draw water into your cells keeping your skin plumped and hydrated. I also recommend adding fresh, cold pressed oils into your diet (olive, avocado, walnut, flax, hemp, borage, and pumpkin seed oil are great but be sure they are fresh! Avoid soy, canola, and corn oil as these will age your skin) and if you aren't vegan, sipping organic bone broth can do wonders for the skin. In traditional Chinese medicine if the stomach/spleen is out of balance the facial skin can be quite dry and lose tone, one simple remedy that may help is to eat warm, cooked, easy to digest meals. Cooked root veggies especially can help nourish the stomach (I find the purple Japanese sweet potatoes incredible for the skin) and be sure to not skip breakfast as the stomach and spleen time of day is 7-11am. I also created a tea that contains a blend of some of my favourite herbs for skin including calendula and rose which will help hydrate you from the inside out.

By no means do you need all of the products below, this is just a guide to pull from, however should you choose to use them all I have listed the products in the order that they should be applied.
